Dr. Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford), a renowned archeologist and expert in the occult, is hired by the U.S. Government to find the Ark of the Covenant, which is believed to still hold the Ten Commandments. Unfortunately, Hitler’s agents are also after the ark. Indy and his ex-flame Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) embark on a globe-spanning quest that takes Indy them from the mountains of Nepal to the deserts of Cairo, where they must survive traps, snakes, and treacherous betrayals.

Directed by Steven Spielberg (DISCLOSURE DAY, SCHINDLER’S LIST) and produced by George Lucas (STAR WARS) the 1981 masterpiece defined the modern action-adventure genre. Seen by many as the ultimate revival of the classic Saturday matinee adventure, RAIDERS cinematic blueprint can be seen throughout the movies of the 1980s and to this day. In 1999, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry, honoring it as a “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” piece of American cinema.

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK originally opened in the U.S. on June 12, 1981.
