Wednesday Signature Series

Held only at the Avalon, the Wednesday Signature Series is a group of six rotating programs that showcase unique films from around the world. Screenings are held on Wednesday evenings at 8:00pm in our historic downstairs theater.

A record-breaking smash in the Czech Republic, nominated for two Czech Lion Awards, ANGEL OF THE LORD 2 is the sequel to the popular Czech fairy tale about the angel Petronel who works at Heaven’s door, but is convinced that he deserves a better job. His eternal tempter, devil Uriah, provokes Petronel by saying, “Just pick an apple from the tree of knowledge and you will know what only God knows and the way to well-deserved recognition.” In the skirmish, the rare fruit rolls off to the Earth and the scatterbrained angel and his nemesis must go find the apple in the world of people.

But in order to, as one priest tells Adam during confession, bring such product into the market he needs to find allies from the three cultures ruling over Nazareth – the Jewish politicians, the Muslim mafia boss and the Catholic church officials.
