Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Based on the real-life, undercover adventures chronicled by Cameron Crowe (ALMOST FAMOUS), FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH is a raunchy and painfully funny look at Southern California high school students, directed by Amy Heckerling (CLUELESS), in her debut. Brad faces a tumultuous senior year marked by the loss of his girlfriend and a series of dead-end jobs, while Stacy, guided by the older and wiser Linda, navigates her own journey of self-discovery and the complexities of teenage relationships, ultimately confronting the consequences of her choices. And Jeff Spicoli, a perpetually stoned surfer, faces-off with the resolute Mr. Hand—a man convinced that everyone is on dope!
With its blend of humor and realism, FAST TIMES provided a fresh perspective and commented on broader themes, highlighting social trends such as mall culture, casual relationships, attitudes towards education and the challenges of growing up. The film’s modest box office success was significant in establishing both Heckerling and Crowe as influential filmmakers in the industry. It also served as an unexpected launching pad for three future Academy Award winners: Forest Whitaker, Nicolas Cage, and Sean Penn. Also starring Jennifer Jason Leigh in her first major role, FAST TIMES also featured Judge Reinhold, Phoebe Cates, Robert Romanus, Eric Stoltz, Anthony Edwards, and the immortal Ray Walston as Mr. Hand. AND, the incredible soudntrack featuring music by Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, The Cars, Led Zeppelin and more.
