A gripping story of truth and resistance during the Prague Spring — WAVES was the official Czech submission for the 2025 Academy Awards.

In the charged atmosphere of 1967–68 Prague, young radio technician Tomáš is torn between protecting his brother and supporting journalists defying state censorship. As Soviet tanks close in, Czechoslovak Radio becomes the nation’s last voice of freedom, forcing Tomáš to decide whether he will risk everything to keep the truth alive.

Celebrated as one of the most powerful Czech films in recent years, WAVES earned 14 Czech Lion nominations and won 6 awards, including Best Feature Film, Best Director (Jiří Mádl), and Best Screenplay. Premiering at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the film was also nominated for the Crystal Globe and the FIPRESCI Prize.
