Marty Supreme

Watch Trailer Buy tickets

The year is 1952, and hardly anybody, apart from Marty Mauser, takes “ping-pong” seriously. Few would even call it a sport. But Marty is convinced that table tennis is his life’s calling, hustling for a chance to prove it, from the grotty tenements of New York’s Lower East Side — the Jewish neighborhood Marty calls home — to a swanky room at the Ritz hotel in London, to a climactic match in Tokyo. Directed by Josh Safdie (UNCUT GEMS), the film follows Marty (Timothée Chalamet), a 1950s New York City shoe salesman who rises from the underground, high-stakes ping-pong scene to challenge for a world championship. Marty is relentless, often unethical, and his chaotic, self-destructive pursuit of fame, leaves behind his pregnant girlfriend, risking it all for glory.
