“I think he really loved acting because he really loved life Director Andrew Ahn remembers Brian Dennehy

Nominated for 2 Film Independent Spirit Awards!
(Best Female Lead, Best First Screenplay)

“That uncommon and all-too-welcome gift: a film about kindness. Of course, there are other themes at play, including small but affecting insights into the immigrant experience and single motherhood, but it’s the bond connecting reclusive retiree Del (played by Brian Dennehy) and young Cody (newcomer Lucas Jaye, always convincing, never cutesy) that resonates. – Peter Debruge, Variety

Kathy (Golden Globe Nominee Hong Chau), a single mother, travels with her shy eight-year-old son Cody to Kathy’s deceased sister’s house which they plan to clean and sell. As Kathy realizes how little she knew about her sister, Cody develops an unlikely friendship with Del (Golden Globe and Tony Awards winner Brian Dennehy), the Korean War vet and widower who lives next door. Over the course of a summer, and with Del’s encouragement, Cody develops the courage to come out of his shell and, along with his mother, finds a new place to call home.
