Give Us a Lift!
Give Us a Lift!

We are pleased to announce the launch of the new Avalon Legacy Campaign initiative, “Give Us a Lift, to raise the $300,000 needed to design and build an elevator to the Avalon 2 auditorium. With the success of this fundraising effort, the Avalon plans to begin the elevator project in 2011, completion of which would fulfill the Board of Directors’ long-standing goal of better serving the community by making the Avalon 2 theater accessible to all. The “Give Us a Lift” initiative has been jump-started by a recently received anonymous $100,000 pledge, leaving a balance of $200,000 needed to fund the installation of the elevator.

About the Avalon Legacy Campaign:
The goal of the Avalon Legacy Campaign is to raise $2 million, of which $1.6 million has been raised, to preserve the Avalon Theatre for future generations. The Campaign has already funded the replacement of the bulk of the building’s electrical system, which had to be completed prior to embarking on the elevator project. In addition, the Campaign has funded the buildout of the Avalon Café, repair of the sidewalk in front of the theater, and reduction of the building mortgage by $200,000. Future campaign goals also include upgrading to energy efficient heating and cooling systems, installing an enhanced event lighting system in Avalon 1, restoring the Avalon 1 ceiling paint, and reducing the building mortgage by an additional $450,000.
