In collaboration with the Embassy of Greece, the Greek Film Center and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, the new Panorama of Greek Cinema series provides a wonderful opportunity for DC filmgoers to experience the best of Greek cinema. Screenings will be held on the first Wednesday of each month at 8:00 PM.
Embassy of Greece Cultural Counselor Zoe Kosmidou remarks, “the Panorama of Greek Cinema will introduce Washington to extraordinary new and old films, talented and innovative filmmakers, fascinating stories, and interesting points of view from Greece. Film enthusiasts are invited to discover some of the most groundbreaking cinema the Greek film industry has to offer! We are grateful to the Avalon for hosting this new film series and to Ted Pedas for his support.”
Similar to the Avalon’s French Cinémathèque and Lions of Czech Film cultural programs, the Panorama of Greek Cinema will provide a monthly opportunity for local cinephiles to see great movies from another country with a rich film history. “As a popular twin theater with a loyal audience, we often play our first-run films for weeks at a time. Having another cultural partnership of this sort is a tremendous addition to the programing at the Avalon and is wonderful for lovers of international cinema in Washington,” states Andrew Mencher, Avalon Theatre Programming Director.
